We are excited to announce the addition of Changing Worlds Now, an artistic collaboration between Carin Walsh and Jenny Blazing. The team uses a multi-media installation to reframe the environmental issues we currently face, and our need to engage in conversations about measures to solve them.
This most recent series is informed by both Blazing’s AnthropoceneScapes and Walsh’s animated and video storytelling. Highlighting the personal impacts of climate change through a unique, storytelling art experience, Changing Worlds Now serves as reminder of what is truly at risk if we do not embrace long-term strategies for sustainability.
In this collaborative installation, moving images project onto, and interact with, the acrylic and collage mural (8’x6’prototype), while an audio montage heightens the narrative of the seamless video loop. This is a prototype for region-specific installations at larger scale. The audio and visual components of the installation are designed to be site specific, linking viewers to an experience set in their own backyards.
Exhibited April 2018 at Pleiades Arts in Durham NC, the installation prototype featured Durham references that left visitors feeling directly connected to the work. For more on this artistic collaboration visit their website.
The installation with associated discussion and Q&A will take place on Saturday, March 30th, 2019 from 12:20 pm to 1:30 pm in the Caldwell Lounge.
